Tex Mex 2011 Show Coverage

Written by : Posted on April 19, 2011 : 2 Comments

Tex Mex is a show I dream of going to every year. This year it was held on April 14-17, 2011. Since I’m way up here in Ohio, the show is way down in Texas, and Layd Out at the Park was last weekend, it’s difficult for me to make it down to this badass 4-day show. However, I’m going to do whatever it takes to make it down there next year as I know it’s a show you don’t want to miss.

This is the 6th year Severed Ties has put the show on, and once again it was located on Lake Somerville. There is a huge attendance of mini trucks, show trucks, sport trucks, custom cars, hot rods, and more. I assume this is a mandatory event for every custom truck magazine and minitrucker… besides me (punches self in face)!

As usual, there are several events that go on at the show. These include the Mini Trucker Olympics (sponsored by KIK), the BBQ Cookoff (hosted by 522 Cookers & Pitmaker BBQ Grills and presented by Good Ole Boys Seasoning & Rubs), and the Dunk Tank. This year you had your chance to try and dunk David Macdonald, Rafa, Matt Spence, Mitch Rall, Darryl Tracy, and some fine ladies.

With all this going on while I’m stuck in Ohio, I was fortunate enough to find a Texas native who promised to snag someone’s camera for a while and shoot some of the amazing quality that attended this year. He kept his word and I’m more than happy to post them on the site. So thanks again to Malachi Montgomery for sharing his photos with myself and the rest of the mini truck world that missed out on what is always a strong contender for truck show of the year.

If you enjoyed our show coverage, please share it on Facebook, Twitter, and any other truck forum/website you can think of. Also, leave a comment at the bottom of any of the show coverage pages with your thoughts on this year’s Tex Mex show. I’d really appreciate it!

Be on the lookout for Mini Truck Scene at a few more shows this year, and tons more in the future. I’d also recommending signing up for FREE email updates. Everytime the site has new content on it, you’ll be emailed. Just enter your email address in the blue bar at the top of the website, or click here, and that’s it! Thanks again for your support! Enjoy!
